WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LICENSE SIZES?

Meraki Insight licenses come in extra-small, small, medium, large and extra-large. The size determines the maximum throughput:

• Extra-small: 100 Mbps
• Small: 250 Mbps
• Medium: 750 Mbps
• Large: 5 Gbps
• Extra-Large: 10 Gbps

WHICH LICENSE DO I NEED?

License size and length depends on the specifics of your company, such as size, year-over-year growth and longevity.

For small companies or single-location offices, we typically recommend an extra-small or small license. A startup expecting fast growth, however, might consider a three-year license and a medium plan to allow room for growth. Large and extra-large plans are best-suited for enterprise-level deployments.

CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING USE CASES:

I’m currently directing a team of IT professionals at a cybersecurity startup. In an industry that’s growing at remarkable rates, which license should I choose?

For this industry and company size with high projected growth, the three-year medium plan is the best choice.

I’m the CEO of a blockchain company that has been acquired by a large corporation. I have been repositioned within the organization to manage big data analytics. What is the best plan for us moving forward?

In order to keep track of data in such a large organization, the five-year extra-large plan is the best fit.

I own a small wireless-enabled café. We are stable and expect to remain about the same size for the foreseeable future.

This business could do with an extra-small or small license; however, since it isn’t projected to grow or change significantly, a five-year license may be a good fit and an option for cost savings.

WHAT KIND OF DEVICE DO I NEED TO PAIR WITH INSIGHT?

Meraki Insight is compatible with MX products. They must be running the MX 14.20 firmware or higher.

For this industry and company size with high projected growth, the three-year medium plan is the best choice.
Extra-Small: Z3 or Z3C

Small: MX64, MX64W, MX65, MX65W, MX67, MX67C, MX67W, MX68, MX68W, MX68C, MX68CW

Medium: MX84, MX100

Large: MX250, MX400, MX600

Extra-Large: MX450

Note that larger Insight licenses can support lower MX models, but not the other way around.
